Sales Consultant Carleigh Steele

Sales Consultant Carleigh Steele at the Goodyear showroom

At Andersen Professional Building Services, we work with clients end-to-end throughout the whole process, from selecting the ideal products for their designs to post-installation follow-up. Our consultants serve as the go-to resources for builders and contractors when it comes to selecting and installing quality doors and windows in their projects.

Curious what questions our APBS sales consultants are asked on a daily basis? Clint Shearer’s family has been in the window and door business for 40 years, and he started working in the industry while he was still in school. Carleigh Steele also has a family history in the business — and her dad is a long-time Andersen/APBS employee as well.

Q. What is the culture at APBS like?

Shearer: I’ve been in the window business for most of my life, and to me, Andersen is a giant version of a small corporation, if that makes sense. Everybody knows everyone else, it’s like you’re part of a family — from the vice presidents down to the install crew.

Q. What specific services does APBS offer to builder customers?

Steele: We’re a one-stop shop. That means you can contact your sales rep for anything you need, and we’ll point you in the right direction or take care of it ourselves. And I love working with builders. You really get a chance to know them and develop trust with them.

Q. Let’s talk about Andersen products for a minute. What product lines do you offer?

Steele: We mix product lines all the time. I have several different builders that use 100 Series products — our most budget-friendly option — along with lines that are a step up pricewise, all on the same job. That gives the building a unique look and you don’t notice the products were mixed-and-matched.

Q. What are the greatest advantages to using Andersen products, in your point of view?

Shearer: Pricewise, we’ve very competitive in all our product lines, and we have the best lead time in the industry. In the custom home market, nobody comes close.

Q. What customization options are available?

Steele: With the Heritage series, we can do any custom color, and with our E-Series, you get the most options. We have 50 standard colors available, a variety of hardware options, different wood, and so on. And we can provide color samples to clients.

Q. Have you needed to deal with homeowners’ associations and their standards?

Steele: Yes, we can provide a sample window for the HOA. That’s an issue that’s definitely becoming a lot more common.

Q. OK, last question. What’s the most unusual project you’ve worked on?

Shearer: I just bid on an 18,000 square foot home that overlooked a golf course in Scottsdale. It’s three stories built into the side of a mountain — has a three-year build time. Really unique stuff. The quote for windows and doors came out to be just about half a million.

Steele: One I have in the quoting stage has enormous pivot doors everywhere, eight feet wide and 12 feet tall. That’s probably the coolest one I’ve ever done.
